First off, if you have already played Super-Mario (the first version of
Super-Mario), you should know that New-Super-Mario is almost the exact
same thing. You can be Mario, or play as Luigi (to play as Luigi you
have to hold down the L and R buttons as you select which file you want
to play).
It does, however, have some new things. For
instance there is a mini-mushroom that make you tiny, a mega-mushroom
that makes you huge, and a blue koopa-shell that lets you slide back and
forth to kill goombas or koopas. And the same old power-ups, like the
fire flower to throw fire balls to kill goombas and koopas (you can't
kill dry bones with it), the Super-Mushroom so you can be super mario,
and the star-power, which makes you invincible.
However, if
you have not played super mario, you are sure to love this game!! It is
an adventure game full of puzzles, avoiding goombas (brown mushroom
things with legs that you can see on the front cover), koopas (turtles,
also on the front), and stomping on dry bones (skeleton koopas, and that
comes back to life after a few seconds you stomp on it). Not to mention
swinging on ropes to avoid falling into lava, climbing fences to avoid
touching fast rising lava, and jumping over pits, plus fight about 14
bosses.
But to make sure to get as much as fun as you can get
from this game, make sure you unlock world 4 and 7. To unlock lock
these words, you have to go through world 3 (for world 4) and world 6
(for world 7). The only way to unlock them is to get the mini-mushroom,
and defeat the final world 3 boss being mini mario to get to world 4. To
get to world 7, you have to do the same thing, but beware, it is VERY
hard to be mini mario and deafeat the boss in world 6 to get into world
7.
