GoldenEye 007 (2010) review

I purchased this game for its single player campaign. I have not played the multiplayer. The game is engaging and very reminiscent of the classic N64 version. It is a standard first person shooter with all the classic guns. I enjoyed learning the tactics, and choosing either entering a mission with stealth or with guns blazing. One of the highlights for me was the mission driving the tank. I like campaigns that offer variety in game play.

There was one element of single player campaign play that was lacking in this game: character advancement. Although the landscape and missions change, the most significant progression is the changing weapon set. Otherwise, there are no hidden skills, unlocking items, accumulating items, etc. There is no reward for completing a mission more quickly or with stealth. Unlocking cheats are rewarded from playing the online multiplayer. As a consequence, sometimes a new mission feels like playing more of the same. After completing half the game, I got bored, stopped playing for a couple months, and then came back and finished.

Using the Wii controller during game play can be quite frustrating, because both aiming and turning is controlled by pointing at the screen. As a consequence, when trying to turn too quickly, often the controller would point out of range and control would be lost at the most critical moments. With some practice, this can be overcome.

Overall, the bar for the Wii version of Golden Eye was set very high by the N64 Golden Eye and Perfect Dark predecessors. It met my expectations, but it missed an opportunity to be outstanding.

The Sims 3 review

Make sure your computer is powerful enough to meet the standards of the game, if you want experience Sims 3 at it's fulliest.

I gave Mario Kart Wii a 6.5 for being too casual and too simple. This game is as casual as Mario Kart Wii, but not nearly as simple. That's why I give Sims 3 a 8.0,

I was greatly impressed by the little things this game has added, things like personality traits, customization of the Create a Sim, and the ability to alter the change and mood of the room by specifically changing the color tone of lights in the house.

However while the game does take a few steps forward, it does however take a few steps back. Unlike the Sims 2 where Sims physically open car doors, get in then drive out of the driveway. Unfortunately in The Sims 3 this has been replaced with the Sims going to the edge of the pavement and magically the car disappears from the drive on to the road and then the sims magically vanishes into the car.

There are many objects in the game to keep sims happy, however there does appear to be some standard objects which simmer might be used that are not in the game. Hot Tubs and pool tables, however EA has announced with Sim Points you can buy extra content for the game like more hair styles or clothes.

Overall The Sims 3 improves quite a bit on The Sims 2 and looks good, but it doesn't feel 100% complete in places

Finally the 3nd Generation of the Sims have arrived, having a chance to play Sims 3, I can see that an honest improvement in terms of graphics and play. With an open map, there is no worry about loading times when playing the game.

Make sure your computer is powerful enough to meet the standards of the game, if you want experience Sims 3 at it's fulliest.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker review

It was five years after the release of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Gamers around the world were anxiously awaiting the next installment of the legendary series. Recently, a screen shown at E3 displayed Link fighting Ganondorf in an epic battle with amazing graphics. But then when Wind Waker was released, it appeared to be more of a cartoon than a Legend of Zelda game; it looked nothing like that picture. Though many still believe this ruined the game, most agree that you can't judge Wind Waker by its cover: The cel-shaded graphics give it a new look, but there's no doubt that the feel emulates that of its predecessor, Ocarina of Time.

For those of you who played Ocarina of Time, you'll remember that at the end Ganondorf was plunged into a void in which he did not die, but was suspended for 100 years. For those of you who didn't, a short sequence before the game begins explains the basic plot of Ocarina of Time. When the game starts, you are sleeping on a lookout tower on your home, Outset Island, which is set in a vast Ocean; you wake to find your little sister leaning over you, reminding you that it's your birthday. After a series of events involving your grandmother and various island residents, a large armored bird is spotted flying over the island carrying a young lady. A pirate ship is in hot pursuit, firing cannonballs and the like. And of course, you must go save her - that is, after you've found a sword. After a few battles in the island's forest, you manage to save the mysterious girl, who turns out to be the captain of the pirates down below. You exit the forest, only to see your sister sprinting towards you, clearly excited about something. But then out of nowhere, the giant bird swoops down and takes her off into the distance. After repeatedly begging the pirate captain to take you with them and help save your sister, your adventure begins. The pirates take you to the Forsaken Fortress, a cursed stronghold where the bird and the man who commands it live. The pirates attempt to shoot you to the room where your sister is being held, but they miss, and you end up losing your sword. After sneaking through the castle by hiding under barrels and being taken to the prison about a million times, you finally retrieve your sword and encounter your sister - only to be taken away by the bird, who thrusts you out into the ocean. You are rescued by a talking ship called the King of Red Lions, who tells you that your sister is in the captivity of Ganondorf, the evil man who was thought to be destroyed a century prior. Your first objective is to find three sacred stones that will raise the Tower of Gods; this ancient citadel will help open up the path to the Master Sword, the only thing that can destroy Ganondorf. On your journey you find the Wind Waker, a conductor's baton that allows you to perform various melodies that control the world around you. With the help of the Wind Waker, you discover a stunning secret about the ocean and its many islands. You return to the Forsaken Fortress in a desperate attempt to defeat Ganondorf, only to have the Master Sword's power drained. The only way to restore it is to awaken the Earth and Wind sages, and guide them to the heart of their temples; afterward you must retrieve the broken pieces of Triforce from the depths of the ocean.

The controls in this game are much like Ocarina of Time, A being an action button (you jump automatically), B using your sword, and the C button used for setting items. The items are similar to those in Ocarina of Time: Bombs, Hookshot, Bow & Arrow, etc. However, there are some new items like the Grappling Hook, which wraps around protrusions and lets you swing; and the Deku Leaf, which acts as a sort of parachute, allowing you to gracefully glide across large gaps and even fly with the help of a gust of wind. The L button allows you to target, replacing Z in Ocarina of Time; however, instead of toggling on and off, you hold and release it to lock on and off.

The gameplay itself is very fun; a wide variety of areas in a huge overworld pose many challenging puzzles and battles. The world is a huge ocean consisting of forty-nine sectors, each with a unique island. The islands range anywhere from small, moon-shaped lumps with a single chest to giant spiraling pillars of rock riddled with caverns and even an entire civilization. Though the game is not as difficult as Ocarina of Time, it will still thoroughly frustrate you at times. But overall, the game is just fun and exciting.

One of the things that separates Wind Waker from most other Legend of Zelda titles is the change of graphics. Though the game is played in three dimensions like Ocarina of Time, this game is cel-shaded, giving it the 2-D, cartoon-like look to the characters and world. Some may say this downgrades the game, but I think that it is simply a new method of presentation, and looks beautiful.

Like other Zelda games, Wind Waker has wonderful music. It really fits with the surroundings, and make you feel like you're really in the game, garbed in green and saving Hyrule. Whether you're on Dragon Roost Island listening to the soothing wind music and harmonic finger snaps, or sailing across the ocean taking in a creative medley of the original Legend of Zelda overworld theme, you can't help but enjoy Wind Waker's music, and maybe even hum along.

Like most Zelda games, this one goes above and beyond in its replay value. Nearly every inch of the gargantuan overworld is filled with secrets and side quests. You can hunt for rare items in hidden mini-dungeons, play a countless mini games, and much more. And when you beat the game, you have the option of starting another file in which you go through the whole game in normal clothes, and you have the Deluxe Picto Box; this is an item that allows you to take pictures of pretty much every character and enemy (yes, bosses too) and turn them into figurines! In other words, the replay value in overflowing; it will take years to do every little thing there is to do.

Overall, the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is an amazing game that will not be forgotten. Even now, after they've stopped making Gamecube games, most stores still have copies of this game. If you have a Wii, or still have a Gamecube, get this game! It is a must-have for any Nintendo fan.

Crysis 2 review CryEngine 2. Consoles get Cryengine. A DirectX 11 GPU worthy game, maybe even the first worthy game.

At least this runs on my birthday present in 2006, a Geforce 8800 GTX. You would need a NASA PC just to play it. I have one pc with a 8800 GTX, one with a Geforce GTX 280, and a third with a Radeon HD 5970. It's also the first game to add meaningful DirectX 11 card purchase, because otherwise there would be no decent DirectX 11 games to play

This is a popular saying about the release of Crysis. Crytek transgression by a game come so incredibly far from your PC said that it was impossible for the average consumer to enjoy the game. On the one hand, a unique status for Crytek, but on the other hand, an unfortunate fact for many gamers. Now Crysis 2 and this game has found its way to PlayStation 3. We got into our nano suit 2.0 to save New York once.

You start Crysis 2 in a submarine, with a number of marines in which you hang out waiting until you arrive in New York. However, it is slightly different and you know barely escape the sinking submarine. Badly battered you are fished out by a guy who calls himself Prophet. This guy will help you to look slightly above water and he does this by you in Nanosuit lifting. Shortly after it becomes clear that the Prophet are done with it and that you, Alcatraz, combined with the suit are the ultimate combination to New York to save the alien invasion.

You start exactly at the point where Prophet quit his job. You are in the pack and hoisted it follows the orders of Ghould. This is a guy with a lot of things you are trying to achieve. But you have to deal with a crazed sergeant, or you really want to bring the Prophet. You are walking in the suit of the Prophet and no one knows that you have taken its place. In the hours after the rescue by Prophet move from A to B through the city to do things for Ghould and most importantly, Ghould reach.

In the meantime you will mainly relate to the soldiers of the deranged sergeant and tired all your skills and those of the suit to use these forces to outwit. Halfway through the game followed a twist and you get more and more to do with the aliens. These aliens are rotten stubborn creatures that do not have far to one two three. Add the fact that you stand next to the much stronger enemy aliens to endure and the festival is complete. Crysis 2 is basically a shooter, but even though you're mainly shooting game feels nice and fresh.

This is because you can apply multiple modes of play, which is a consequence of wearing your super advanced suit. So you can use an invisible touch, ideal for enemies from stealth. The disadvantage is that after shooting up right appears, but again to switch to invisibility, you can choose another position and again a few enemies treat a headshot. This is mostly in fights with soldiers at issue and gives a feeling that you're omnipotent.

You find yourself unexpectedly in a situation where you are attacked from all sides. Then you can go for invisibility, but opponents are not stupid, so it is somewhat useless. Another function of the suit is that you can put extra armor on. This set of the nano-cells, which enables you to collect more bullets. Perfect for moving into a position to take a breath. These are the two features you'll use most by far in the fighting.

There is more, because you can quickly run through your nano suit and jump very high. This may in some fights are very handy. Partly because the fight is not only horizontally but also vertically. You then use the entire environment. You can also have your pick up an infrared vision, which is particularly useful when another earthquake occurs and there is dust everywhere. There is nothing more beautiful in the dim mist an opponent using its infrared vision to shoot his head.

Furthermore, the levels are littered with boxes of ammunition and other items. By a tactical visor can detect all the important items in the area where you currently are, and highlight certain objects, so you know exactly how or what. You do it by, the suit you wear in Crysis 2 is very nice and the various options, the gameplay in the fighting also enjoy varying. A good example was what we previously described with the ability to become invisible. If you play well, you can disable many enemies in stealth.

If you're more of the brutal violence, then the game offers some options for you there. So you can chop a rock distribution, which is so powerful that even one meter or ten vehicles can kick forward. If you have C4, then paste that course on the car and then driving to the enemies to kick and to explode the C4. Quite barbaric, but a very cool, because this way you can disable many enemies at once and of course a particularly good show.

The fighting during the game not only by the different approaches nicely varied. Also you have to deal with aliens in different shapes and sizes and if you think you've cleaned up an area of aliens, there may be just a drop ship arriving aliens that some new drops. These aliens are a lot stronger than the soldiers and move even more unpredictable. So if they jump on buildings from left to right, where the shooting is sometimes tricky.

However, sometimes like a bazooka outcome, because that is always the most fun. Pure brute force. Incidentally, you notice along the way also which weapons are more effective than other weapons against the aliens and the end of the game you all powerful material. What is that as you explore yourself. Exploring the game itself is pretty fun as New York Crytek has very realistic to the game and then translated into an apocalyptic setting with a peak around Central Park.

It is adjacent to a very nice game to play a beautiful game. Graphically the game to the nines, so you'll really enjoy. The variation in the environment is nice and you do well there and many different locations, while in the background too much has happened. Think of skyscrapers collapse, fierce battles between aliens and the soldiers you are viewing from a distance or aircraft that the airspace unsafe. There is always something going on and this can vary from small to huge things, with the latter we mean, among other equipment from the aliens and believe us, this is pretty impressive.

It should be clear that Crytek delivers a great visual package, and the gameplay feels very good and varied. We have the single player in one hour or eight played and really enjoyed every moment. Also in the mistakes we could not find too much. The only thing I noticed is that enemies now and then sometimes running into a wall and occasionally be a little too late textures loaded. Outside this order is a wonderful title, which you will have fun from start to finish. Crytek is a developer with a big mouth, but we must give them a lot that they know what to do.

That's not even about the audio had. This excels on two fronts. So the game has a fantastic soundtrack that has something a bit sad touch, but fits perfectly with the setting and also the voice acting is also high. The characters sound pretty convincing, and do not forget that the suit rather talk to you, what a good sound system sounds really fat. Yes, it's just a detail, but one that you enjoy doing. In short, everything is good about this title, Crytek know how and just a complete package to deliver and we did really enjoy the last week.

Besides a single player there is an extensive multiplayer. This has a common level-up system and as you earn more points you get more options. Then again, you can upgrade your suit on, what the game gives a little more diversity in just Shall we shoot. You constantly on guard and that's because your enemies just can suddenly emerge, of course, because everyone has access to the invisibility. The multiplayer extends well together and will provide many hours of playing time, partly because it is something different than usual, and all thanks to nano-suit 2.0.

Crysis 2 is a game in single play kept us from beginning to end. Not because the story is so brilliant, but because the game plays very nice way and you feel really powerful to be in the suit that you've gotten Prophet. It is a pity that you do not really feel more in touch with Alcatraz. Furthermore, the game is graphically stunning and the audio of a very high level. Every aspect has been carefully worked out and if you pour it all into a whole, in this case would result in a game like Crysis 2 and this game we recommend you simply.

Mega Man ZX review

It is geared more towards hardcore/older audiences not because of offensive material, but because of it's difficulty. Older Mega Man games were fun for everyone regardless of what kind of gamer you were, but these are directed towards 1)those who love Megaman, 2) are hardcore gamers (that is, those who are dedicated towards their games and gameplay), and 3) those who can take a beating and return for more. This game in normal mode won't necessarily tear your hair out, but it's hard mode will make you bald quickly. I myself LOVED hard mode; it's like a shout-out to how hard Nintendo games were. So, if you are sick of playing easy games, this will definitely satiate your thirst. I definitely cannot give it a 5 because it's not as accessible to all ages (even to the older ages), so I give it an average score.
