Helicopter Parents Could Learn From Their Trad Moms and Dads

 Helicopter parents are getting worse.

The Wall Street Journal reports that a growing number of Gen Z parents are actively intervening in their children’s job searches, interviews, hiring processes, and even early career issues.

According to the Journal, parents are calling companies about their adult children’s performance reviews, benefits choices, and even calling in sick for them.

According to one survey, 20 percent of Zoomers had a parent attend a job interview with them.

One staffing executive had to fire a 24-year-old twice — once to the employee, who failed to show up for meetings four times, and again to his irate mother who demanded her son be given another chance.

Needed: Trad Parent Wisdom

Ironically, the parents who are hovering over their children now grew up two or three decades ago under trad parents who raised them in an opposite manner.

Not only did our trad parents not obsess over us, they made us go outside to play and not come home until supper, and we knew we had better not be late.

We were free to roam, invent, and discover on our own. We learned how to socialize, make friends, and deal with some of the jerkier kids without a parent anywhere to be found.

True, families were bigger back then and there was always an older sibling around to help us get out of scrapes.

When a big bully busted up my hand-built go-kart, my big sister kicked the tar out of him — he was two years older and 70 pounds heavier than she, but I will never forget the image of her sitting on his back, pounding her fists into his sides as he cried like a baby.

Trad parents didn't give us unwarranted praise. Rather, our parents specialized in admonishing us for the millions of things we were doing wrong — not getting to school on time, not getting high enough grades, not keeping our beds made.

In fact, if we were ever accused of any wrongdoing by other adults, our parents sided instantly with the accusers.

“What did you do now, Tommy?”

We had to prove, beyond any reasonable doubt, that we were not at fault — though, truth be told, we usually were at fault.

Adults Must Figure Life Out on Their Own

When my parents dropped me off at college, they didn't worry about the life challenges that awaited me. They could barely contain their glee that I wouldn't be eating everything in their refrigerator or racking up auto repairs on our Ford Pinto with Jim Rockford maneuvers (don't ask).

They gave me a big jar of peanut butter and some crackers and advised me there was no point in writing home for money — as there wasn't any.

I admit my blue-collar father did intervene in my studies. Worried I would never find a job as an English major, he insisted I minor in something practical.

Thanks to his meddling, I became the only person to ever graduate from Penn State with a major in English and a minor in air-conditioning and heating.

In any event, our trad parents knew that the process of becoming a well-functioning adult required us to figure most things out on our own.

Looking back, that is the greatest gift they gave us.

End Helicopter Parenting Before It’s Too Late

As I said, it’s ironic that so many of today's parents, who enjoyed a trad-parent upbringing, are suffocating their kids’ development by endlessly meddling in their affairs.

It has gotten so bad, reports the Journal, that employers increasingly view heavy parental involvement as a red flag — a signal that Zoomers with especially meddlesome parents likely lack independence and the ability to make their own decisions.

I sure hope these kids figure out how to function on their own before their turn comes to run the country.

Or one day, during a live White House press conference, the president will be asked a tough question and his mother will grab the microphone.

“I don’t appreciate the tone of these questions!” his mom might say. “And for the record, it’s not his fault he was late to the NATO summit — the traffic was terrible and his alarm didn’t go off!”

Already the city of Jacksonville is looking into powering its new pro football stadium and infrastructure with VIVIFY's products. The Democratic Party Is Becoming the Manson Family

 

I’m just going to say it.  The Democratic Party seems to be turning into a death cult. It reminds me increasingly of the murderous following that developed around the 1960s psychopath, Charles Manson, which came to be known as the Manson Family.

For those too young to remember, or need a short refresher, Charles Manson was a career criminal and amateur musician and songwriter. He lived on the fringes of Los Angeles in the 1960s after spending much of his youth in Ohio and West Virginia committing petty crimes and being incarcerated. He eventually wound up in California and spent time in prison, and then in Washington state, where a fellow inmate taught him to play guitar.

Manson became involved in drug experimentation, including LSD (reportedly as part of a CIA program). While living in the Haight-Ashbury District of San Francisco in the late 1960s, he began to preach his own brand of philosophy that married up scientology, Dale Carnegie, and the Beatles. He attracted a following of mostly female fans, largely by manipulating troubled personalities with drugs and his strange proselytizing. They lived in a communal house in Topanga Canyon near Los Angeles. Combining LSD and mind-control, Manson sought to have all his “family” completely submit to his will.

Beginning in 1969, Manson and his followers committed a series of murders in California, the most notorious of which were the Tate-LaBianca murders. Manson ordered four of his followers, three female and one male, to go to a luxurious home near Beverly Hills that was occupied by 26-year-old film actress Sharon Tate, who was 8 ½ months pregnant, and three of her friends. Manson told his four disciples to “totally destroy” everyone in the house “as gruesome as you can.” Manson’s followers didn’t disappoint.  

The mayhem and murders of the home’s occupants after the Manson followers broke in were incredibly brutal. They were shot, stabbed, beaten and hung.  In addition to Tate and her three friends, the baby in Tate’s womb died, as did a hapless friend of the home’s caretaker who happened to drive up to the property shortly before the start of the rampage.

The following night, Manson ordered his followers to murder supermarket executive Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary, in their Los Angeles area estate. Their murders were equally gruesome.

The perpetrators were soon identified and apprehended, and their trials became a spectacle. Manson would carve an ‘X’ into his forehead, while the female defendants in the murder trials would duplicate the mark on their own foreheads, followed by other members of the Manson Family who were not on trial, but were holding vigils outside the courthouse. (Manson, with his penchant for theatricality, would later turn the ‘X’ into a swastika.)

In August 1969, President Richard Nixon complained that the media were trying to glamorize the Manson Family members, which resonates today, as we see the media glamorize Luigi Mangione, the killer of a healthcare executive. Charles Manson tried to physically attack Judge Charles Older, overseeing his trial, in the courtroom, prompting the judge to arm himself subsequently. Eventually all those charged were convicted and incarcerated for the murders. Manson would die in prison in 2017.

The cultural phenomenon that followed the Manson killings was shocking. Former Weather Underground member, Bernadine Dohrn, who later became a law professor and wife of Barack Obama’s pal, Bill Ayres, said of the murders: “Dig it, first they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they even shoved a fork into the pig Tate's stomach! Wild!"

We are now witnessing a shocking celebratory reaction of Charlie Kirk’s horrifying public assassination among many on America’s left and in the Democratic Party.  Teachers, professors, physicians, lawyers, and corporate executives have mocked or praised Kirk’s murder. Indeed, the No. 1 demographic celebrating Charlie Kirk’s murder is reportedly professors and teachers. One can find countless videos posted to social media of disgusting displays of individuals celebrating the brutal slaying of this man, whose uniquely effective debating skills were too much for them to bear.

New polling data reveals a stunning level of acceptance of political violence on the part of American liberals. The question, “Do you generally consider it to be acceptable or unacceptable for a person to be happy about the death of a public figure they oppose?” was met with nearly a quarter of individuals who identified as “very liberal” – 24 percent – responding that it was “always or usually acceptable.” Three percent of those who identified as “very conservative” agreed with that sentiment.

Some Republicans have expressed concern about the potential development on the American left of an “assassination culture” in America.

Just as Charles Manson’s “family” of drug-addled psychopaths had been conditioned to completely submit to the will of their leader, too many Democrats seem to have lost their humanity and have been conditioned to embrace or accept homicide as a tactic in realizing their goals. The same penchants for narcissism, nihilism and public spectacle that drove Manson are what we are witnessing among much of America’s left today.

Charlie Kirk was the nice guy on the conservative side who thought that his political opponents could be reasoned with by using logical arguments.  It cost him his life. My fervent hope is that the Democratic Party does not continue its descent into Manson-like psychopathy. Better yet, maybe many of its members will wake up and leave that party altogether.

Charlie Kirk’s Bold Mission to Rescue a Lost Generation

’d like to comment on the legacy of the late Charlie Kirk and why he is going to be remembered and what he accomplished.

There’s been a lot of encomia about him, but I think one of the most unusual things that he did was he changed politics, but he didn’t address political issues first. In other words, he saw politics as a reflection of deeper social, economic, and cultural issues.

I talked to him in late August, and what he was intent on was trying to tell a new generation of Americans that they were suffering from prolonged adolescence, and part of that wasn’t their fault.

He was arguing that the Republican Party cannot empower people like [New York City mayoral candidate] Zohran Mamdani and the socialist Left, who have no solutions and will make things worse, but they have to address why they are popular.

Some of it, of course, is ignorance, but what he was trying to say is that people who cannot afford a home, they cannot afford energy, they cannot afford gasoline, they can’t afford to buy a car, they prolong their adolescence. They do not get married, or they’ve been indoctrinated in college that the nuclear family is toxic, or they don’t understand the beauty of child raising or raising children. And in a larger sense, these personal decisions they’re making are not only making them unhappy, but they’re hurting the country.

In other words, we’re suffering from 1.6 fertility, a radical drop in the last quarter century from 2.0 at the turn of the millennium.

And what he was also trying to say is that there were solutions to these problems in sort of the red state paradigm in places like Florida, in places like Texas, in places like Arizona, in places somewhat like Nevada, where people were moving to—4 million, 6 million people a year—and they felt they could afford insurance, they could buy a car, it was safe, homes were affordable, they could get married at an earlier age, they could rediscover traditional norms of their grandparents.

So, he was concentrated, not in those areas, but in the swing states, especially in the 2024 election—Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota, not Minnesota so much, but Michigan, somewhat Minnesota—and then blue states because he thought the battle had been won.

We turned to common sense in half the country, but he was going as an emissary into hostile territory and telling people:

There is a reason why you’re leaving in the millions. There is a reason why you’re not buying houses. We have to look at zoning laws. We have to look at energy production. We have to unleash people’s individual talent to produce more goods and services at an affordable price.

We have to champion the idea that a two-parent family is not aberrant. It was the historical norm for 2,500 years. It’s a good thing to have two or three children. It’s a good thing to be a young person and wanna buy a house in your 20s and not in your 40s, or to have a child in your 20s and not in your late 30s.

Nothing wrong with the latter, but he was trying to offer a different paradigm that had proved successful.

The second thing, very quickly, about him is his methodology was as varied as his message. In other words, to get that message across that there were cultural, social, economic factors that reflected one’s political view, and if you’re gonna win people over to the conservative politics, you have to explain socially, culturally, and economically why they’re not receptive at first and what can be done about it. But he also was a good orator.

He spoke extemporaneously. He had one year of college, and he waded into Oxford and Cambridge and took on people at, supposedly, the most prestigious universities in the English-speaking world. He could write. He created this huge organization, $100 million budget, somebody—we don’t do that in America without an MBA or a B.A. So, he was a multitalented figure.

And then, finally, as Aristotle said, courage is the most important of all virtues. And he was not afraid of his person. He was not afraid of getting into arguments with people. He was not intimidated by Ph.D.s, J.D.s, MBAs.

So, he was a rare individual. And I don’t think we’re gonna see anybody like him. I can’t think of anybody on the conservative or the Left that has that many skills and that many talents and that much energy, and more importantly, saw that the problem with America is not whether you’re conservative or liberal per se, not necessarily, but why you are.

And people who have some faith and some vision of being economically viable, and they can marry at an age at which they want to, they can have as many children as they please, they can buy a home, they are happier people. And the Republican Party in the past has not always ensured that they have that opportunity, and he was trying to address it.

Let The WNBA Die Already

 

It’s difficult to think of an analogy to use when trying to illustrate how the media and players are trying to destroy the WNBA without realizing it. Not because it’s particularly impossible, but because they’re all so outdated. To hear the Democrats say it, racism is everywhere and “white supremacy” controls everything in the country, if not the world. But it’s really not. It still exists, but it does so in insignificant ways as to not really matter. Yet, getting back to the WNBA, the press around, and hatred of Caitlin Clark is racist. Just let the league die already.

First off, let me say that I am not the target demographic for the WNBA. Not only am I a man, but I don’t enjoy basketball – once you’ve seen a 7-foot-tall guy slam dunk a basketball one time, you’re pretty much seen it every time. I get the skill, and I don’t have the skill, but I also don’t really want to have the skill. There are far too many timeouts, traveling, fouls (called and missed) and seemingly always comes down to the last 2 minutes, which takes as long as the rest of the game had, for me to be interested. It’s like watching an NFL game with a flag-happy referee crew: it’s boring.

That being said, people like it. The NBA is wildly popular and very profitable. The WNBA is none of those things. 

The league lost $40 million this year and considered that to be a victory because they expected to lose closer to $50 million.

The only reason they didn’t lose $10 million more is the rise of Caitlin Clark. 

Clark is white, and the media decided she would be “the star” of the league because of that fact. They started hyping her in college – “She’s scored more points in college than anyone, including Pete Maravich” was the first I’d heard of her. Never mind the fact that Maravich wasn’t allowed to play his freshman year thanks to rules at the time and there was no 3-point shot, Clark was the “greatest ever!!!”

Don’t get me wrong, my animosity is not directed toward Clark – she’s better than I could ever be at the game, but perspective and reality matter. The left was waiting for some player to hype and they wanted that player to be white. Why? Because they believe America is racist and would only accept a white player as a star. 

This is beyond stupid, of course, but it’s how the mind of Democrats work. The top player in baseball is from Japan, players in the NFL are majority black and it’s the most popular game in sports, while the NHL is full of Canadians and Swedes and isn’t even a blip on the radar. If the American public is into “white supremacy,” we really suck at it.

Clark go the full court press: magazine covers, TV profiles, more basketball cards selling for a small fortune than established athletes, and games all over TV. When her team came to town, the story was about her going to be there, being there, then having been there. It sold tickets and merchandise. But only hers.

The public bought the sizzle without realizing the steak was just ok. 

I don’t mean to say she’s not a good play, she is. But she was only the 7th in average points. Nothing to sniff at, but I bet no one in the media who’d hyped her could name any of the 6 players ahead of her. I bet not one single panel member on CNN whining about “white supremacy” being why she gotten so much attention could name one either. You’d think they learn them, if only to name drop and seem to be genuine. 

But they aren’t genuine, it’s performance art.

None of the energy from the left behind pushing Caitlin Clark was ever put behind a black player; they didn’t even try. That’s not Clark’s fault, it’s the fault of the left. And with literally all of the energy behind her, it only makes sense that there is no residual impact on anyone else and the rest of the league. Games not involving her are about as popular as the league was before her.

Still, even team owners don’t get it and spend their time degrading Clark rather than expanding the case for the whole league. “Caitlin Clark was named Athlete of the year. Why couldn’t they have put the whole WNBA on that cover and said ‘The WNBA is the league of the year’?” asked Washington Mystics owner Sheila Johnson. (Honestly, I had to look up where the Mystics were from, which is a problem for the league that pre-dates Clark.) “Because when you just keep singling out one player it creates hard feelings. And so now you’re starting to hear stories of racism.”

Yes, it is racism. Racism by the left in elevating a rookie as the savior of the league because she is white, then racism of black players toward her rather than directing that animosity toward the people choosing a person to highlight because of their skin color. The only person who hasn’t done anything here is Clark herself, and she’s the one getting bodychecked and her eye gouged by bitter racists. 

I say let the league die. I was indifferent about its existence before, but the whining and victimhood by people lucky enough to play a game for a living about the one person bringing in the people necessary to grow the league and all of their salaries is just too much. So many stories about how “little” WNBA players are paid compared to NBA players are stupid – how many of the league’s players could make $100,000 in the non-sports world? The rookie starting wage is $76,535. How many people without an advanced degree make that much right out of college? Not many, and fewer still when you remove rich kids hired by their family’s business.

But they aren’t worth more. Rather than whine about the attention, accolades and endorsements Caitlin Clark is getting, practice and play better. The vast majority of players in the WNBA, Clark included (41.7), shoot well below 50 percent. You have to go to the 40th player on the league leader board for shooting percentage to get below 50 in the NBA. There are only 12 of the top 50 leaders in the WNBA above 50, with most just barely. 

In other words, the game itself is boring. I can watch my friends miss shots and I don’t have to be lectured about how horrible and racist everything is as I do it. 

The league won’t die – it’s subsidized by the NBA, at least in part, to distract from the womanizing of players – so they aren’t about to let it die. It is immune from reality, both economic and political. I guess I’ll just keep doing what I’ve been doing: not giving a damn, no matter how much its hyped or how loud the whining gets.

Remembering Why the U.S. Navy Was Formed: To Combat Islamic Terror

 uring a recent mosque sermon at the North Hudson Islamic Center in New Jersey, a CAIR official, Ayman Aishat, made a seemingly startling claim: 

We live in America, the United States of America. Brothers and sisters, those who do not know history, not too long ago, the USA was paying the jizya to the Ottoman Caliph.

Could this be?  

First, let us define jizya. In brief (full discussion here), it is the monetary tribute that conquered or cowed infidels pay their Islamic overlords in exchange for peace, according to Koran 9:29:

Fight those among the People of the Book [Christians and Jews] who do not believe in Allah, nor the Last Day, nor forbid what Allah and his Messenger have forbidden, nor embrace the religion of truth [Islam], until they pay the jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.

And yes, Aishat is correct: once upon a time, in its fledgling youth, the United States succumbed to paying jizya to appease Muslim terrorists. That story is instructive — not least as it includes the genesis of the U.S. Navy.

Between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, the Muslims of North Africa (“Barbary”) thrived on enslaving Europeans. According to the conservative estimate of American professor Robert Davis, “between 1530 and 1780 there were almost certainly a million and quite possibly as many as a million and a quarter white, European Christians enslaved by the Muslims of the Barbary Coast.” (With countless European women selling for the price of an onion, little wonder by the late 1700s, European observers noted how “the inhabitants of Algiers have a rather white complexion.”)

As Barbary slaving was a seafaring venture, nearly no part of Europe was untouched. From 1627 to 1633, Lundy, an island off the west coast of Britain, was actually occupied by the pirates, whence they pillaged England at will. In 1627 they raided Denmark and even far-off Iceland, hauling a total of some 800 slaves. 

Such raids were accompanied by the trademark hate. One English captive writing around 1614 noted that the Muslim pirates “abhor the ringing of the [church] bells being contrary to their Prophet’s command,” and so destroyed them whenever they could. In 1631, nearly the entire fishing village of Baltimore in Ireland was raided, and “237 persons, men, women, and children, even those in the cradle” were seized. 

By the late eighteenth century, Barbary’s strength relative to Europe had plummeted, and the Muslims could no longer raid the European coastline for slaves — certainly not on the scale of previous centuries — so its full energy was spent on raiding non-Muslim merchant vessels. European powers responded by buying peace through tribute, which the Muslims accepted as jizya.

Fresh and fair meat appeared on the horizon once the newly born United States broke free of Great Britain and was therefore no longer protected by the latter’s jizya payments. In 1785, Muslim pirates from Algiers captured two American vessels, the Maria and Dauphin. They enslaved and paraded the sailors through the streets to jeers and whistles. Considering the horrific ways Christian slaves were treated in Barbary — sadistically tortured, pressured to convert, and sodomized, as described in the writings of missionaries, redeemers, and others (e.g., John Foxe, Fr. Dan, Fr. Jerome Maurand, Robert Playfair; see pp. 279-283) — when the Dauphin’s Captain O’Brian later wrote to Thomas Jefferson that “our sufferings are beyond our expression or your conception,” he was not exaggerating.

Jefferson and John Adams, then ambassadors to France and England respectively, met with Tripoli’s ambassador to Britain, Abdul Rahman Adja, in an effort to ransom the enslaved Americans and establish peaceful relations. In a letter to Congress dated March 28, 1786, the hitherto puzzled American ambassadors laid out the source of the Barbary’s unprovoked animosity: 

We took the liberty to make some inquiries concerning the grounds of their pretentions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury, and observed that we considered all mankind as our friends who had done us no wrong, nor had given us any provocation. The ambassador answered us that it was founded on the laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as prisoners, and that every Musselman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise. 

This, of course, was a paraphrase of Islam’s so-called “Sword Verse” (Koran 9:5), which ISIS invoked earlier this year. 

At any rate, the ransom demanded to release the American sailors was over fifteen times greater than what Congress had approved, and little came of the meeting. 

Back in Congress, some agreed with Jefferson that “it will be more easy to raise ships and men to fight these pirates into reason, than money to bribe them.” In a letter to a friend, George Washington wondered:

In such an enlightened, in such a liberal age, how is it possible that the great maritime powers of Europe should submit to pay an annual tribute to the little piratical States of Barbary? Would to Heaven we had a navy able to reform those enemies to mankind, or crush them into nonexistence.

But the majority of Congress agreed with John Adams: “We ought not to fight them at all unless we determine to fight them forever.” Considering the perpetual, existential nature of Islamic hostility, Adams was probably more right than he knew. 

Congress settled on emulating the Europeans and paying off the terrorists, though it would take years to raise the demanded ransom. In 1794 Algerian pirates captured eleven more American merchant vessels. 

Two things resulted: the Naval Act of 1794 was passed, and a permanent standing U.S. naval force was established. But because the first war vessels would not be ready until 1800, American jizya payments — which took up 16% of the entire federal budget — began to be made to Algeria in 1795. In return, some 115 American sailors were released, and the Islamic sea raids formally ceased. 

American jizya and “gifts” over the following years caused the increasingly emboldened pirates to respond with increasingly capricious demands. 

One of the more ignoble instances occurred in 1800, when Captain William Bainbridge of the George Washington sailed to the Dey of Algiers (an Ottoman honorific for the pirate lords of Barbary) with what the latter deemed insufficient tribute. Referring to the American crew as “my slaves,” Dey Mustapha proceeded to order Bainbridge to transport the Muslim’s own annual tribute — hundreds of black slaves and exotic animals — to the Ottoman sultan in Constantinople (Istanbul). 

Adding insult to insult, the Dey commanded the U.S. flag taken down from the George Washington and the Islamic flag hoisted in its place; and, no matter how rough the seas might be during the long voyage, Bainbridge was ordered to make sure the vessel faced Mecca five times a day for the prayers of Mustapha’s ambassador and entourage. Bainbridge condescended to being the Muslim pirate’s delivery boy. 

Soon after Jefferson became president in 1801, Tripoli demanded another, especially exorbitant payment, followed by an increase in annual payments — or else. “I know,” Jefferson concluded, “that nothing will stop the eternal increase of demand from these pirates but the presence of an armed force.” So he refused the ultimatum, and, on May 10, 1801, the pasha of Tripoli, having not received his timely jizya installment, proclaimed jihad on the United States. 

Thus began America's first war as a nation, the First Barbary War (1801-1805) — and it was with Muslims who think and act just like ISIS.

Pentagon Has Two Years to Prevent World War III

 

Xi Jinping has ordered the People’s Liberation Army to be ready to seize Taiwan by 2027. Whether he launches an invasion may depend on President Trump’s defense secretary. If confirmed by the Senate, Army National Guard veteran and Fox News host Pete Hegseth, Mr. Trump’s nominee, will have to confront the collapse of deterrence in Europe and the Middle East, resource constraints on Capitol Hill, recruitment challenges, and a deteriorating balance of power in the Indo-Pacific. The only way to promote peace is to go to war on day one—not with China, Russia or Iran but with the Pentagon bureaucracy.

The first task is to fix the U.S. Navy. America needs a maritime industrial base that can counter China’s. Pentagon requirements for building maritime assets involve too many uncoordinated stakeholders. The Pentagon establishes war-fighting requirements—such as the number of missiles on a ship—without regard to interdependent technical specifications such as that ship’s center of gravity. When those technical specifications aren’t tightly linked to war-fighting requirements, the mismatch can cause underperformance or unplanned costs and time. The Defense Department should return to the board model that served the Navy well until the 1960s. The Navy would have a forum of senior stakeholders with a chairman empowered to decide both requirements and specifications, ensuring that these work in harmony.

The Navy should also create an office focused on expediting the development and deployment of certain war-fighting technologies, similar to the Rapid Capabilities Office at the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. The next secretary should insist on more flexible processes to deliver unmanned surface, aerial and underwater vehicles with speed and at scale. He must also work with Congress to help shipyards attract and retain talent.

Rebuilding the maritime industrial base can also help save Aukus—the security partnership between Australia, the U.K. and the U.S.—which is in danger of stalling. Under the Aukus agreement, the U.S. Navy intends to sell Australia at least three Virginia-class attack submarines by the early 2030s. To realize this goal, the Navy needs to build more than today’s 1.2 hulls a year and shrink maintenance backlogs that have sidelined nearly 40% of the fleet. Addressing these challenges will demand consistent funding, which will come only if t

World War III Warning Issued by Retired General

 etired four-star General Jack Keane has said "World War III is in the future" while discussing the U.S. election's impact on global stability.

Donald Trump won last week's election at a time when the western world is grappling with a war in the Middle East, Russia's invasion of Ukraine and tensions with North Korea and China.

General Keane has said that while Trump's victory will force U.S. adversaries to "reassess," the world is headed for "global war."

He told Fox News' Life, Liberty & Levin that the global security challenges that we are facing, "are the most serious, the most dangerous and the most challenging we have had since World War II.

He added: "And I do believe that we're in a pre-war era leading to global war - that is the status that we're facing."

General Keane went on to add that "all of these adversaries - China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, who are cooperating, collaborating coordinating together in a degree that exceeded the expectations of all of our intelligence agencies, by the way, and they have been honest about that appraisal" will have to "reassess, based on this election that's taken place."

"Because they have been acting so aggressively, so assertively, because they believe that our leadership in the United States is weak, that we've lost the political will to confront them, much less go and fight them," he added.

Later on in the interview, General Keane said: "This election has been a seminal event. And I'm convinced that President Trump knows that World War III is in the future.

"And we have got to take action to restore deterrence in dealing with our adversaries. And one of those is rebuilding a military - it has to be done. And we have to fix how the Pentagon does its business, or we're going to be throwing taxpayers' money away."

General Keane went on to say: "And we absolutely have to support our allies who are fighting these adversaries. Israel is fighting a major adversary - give them everything they need to finish it as soon as possible.

He added: "Ukraine is fighting Russia - give them everything they need and finish it as soon as possible. These are investments in our security when our allies are fighting our adversaries."

A major theme in Trump's campaign message was his promise to end wars in the Middle East and Ukraine, often claiming that they would never have started if he was in office.

The President-elect has reportedly spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a post-election phone call, according to The Washington Post, which said Trump reminded Putin about "Washington's sizeable military presence in Europe" and said he would look for a follow-up conversation to discuss a "resolution of Ukraine's war."

Steven Cheung, Trump's communications director, told Newsweek in an emailed response to a request for comment that "we do not comment on private calls between President Trump and other world leaders."

Meanwhile, a senior Hamas official has called for an immediate end to Israel's war against the group in the Gaza Strip in a statement shared with Newsweek in the wake of Trump's victory.

In regards to North Korea, Pyongyang responded to Donald Trump's claim that the nation's leader Kim Jong Un misses him, saying it does "not care" about his re-election.

Chinese President Xi Jinping called President-elect Donald Trump to congratulate him on his win, in a statement that also said he hopes China and the U.S. will strengthen communication, "properly manage differences" and "find a correct way for China and the United States to get along in the new era, so as to benefit both countries and the world."

Iran's foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, said that "Iran respects (the American people's) right to elect the President of their choice" and called for "respect," insisting that Iran is "NOT after nuclear weapons" and denying accusations that an Iranian man was involved in a murder-for-hire scheme to kill Trump.

My College degrees were $33,000 from 2003 – 2015 of education at WITC New Richmond, Chippewa Valley Technical College and Rasmussen University. The Rasmussen University had a mascot, but no sports, no dorms, and mostly online education off message boards, and 10-12 pages of APA papers weekly. WITC and Chippewa Valley were on campus. There was no cameras on campus except they didn’t enforce that totally. There were only class pictures by staff and events or holidays on the colleges instagram and facebook page unless someone snuck phone camera inside it.

My cousin Uli had a black girlfriend for 5 months who he met at a Roberts, Wisconsin bar and they were distancing from one another. He had her over at his house. He was a part of the Lions club and bowled. He lived in an apartment and had a painter job and played Diablo 4 and watched Hulu.

Celebrating the King James Bible

 

With another school season gearing up, debates about the content of curriculum arise. Should the Bible be included in any way?

Several years ago, TIME magazine (April 2, 2007) had a cover story on why the Bible should be taught (with caution) in the public schools

TIME’s David Van Biema wrote: “Should the Holy Book be on the public menu? Yes. It’s the bedrock of Western culture. And it’s constitutional---as long as we teach but don’t preach it.” 

He also notes: “Simply put, the Bible is the most influential book ever written. Not only is the Bible the best-selling book of all time, it is the best-selling book of the year every year.”

One man who would agree was the late Reid Buckley, brother of the late William F. Buckley, Jr., who used to train professional speakers. Reid said this about the world’s most beloved book: “Any born English-speaking son or daughter of the Christian West, who has not savored, indeed, soaked him- or herself in the King James Version of the Holy Bible is irreparably ignorant and culturally deprived.”

The Bible is the best-selling book in the history of the world. And the King James Version (1611), in particular is the most widely published and distributed book of all time.

For our Coral Ridge Ministries television special, “What If the Bible Had Never Been Written?” (based on the eponymous book by Dr. D. James Kennedy and me), author Bill Federer observed, “If they were to [include it in] the New York Times bestseller list every month, all top ten would be the King James Bible. It is the world's bestselling book ever…It made a tremendous impact on Western civilization.”

Ironically, King James I set out to publish a new translation of the Bible---in order to dethrone the Geneva Bible which was popular with the Puritans and other dissidents.

But the king did an excellent job in producing this book. There were six different translation groups, two from Westminster Abbey, two from Oxford, and two groups from Cambridge. And they were assigned different parts of the Bible to translate into English.

They ended up producing the greatest masterpiece in the English language.

Indeed, to this day many common idioms and phrases in the English language get back to the King James Version of the Bible. Such as:  

• “Let there be light,”
• “The golden calf,”
• “Chariots of fire,”
•  “Seek and ye shall find,”
•  “The straight and narrow,”
•  “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak,”
• “All things to all men,”
• “The blind leading the blind,”
•  “The keys of the kingdom,”
•  “Love thy neighbor as yourself.”

And so on.

Several years ago, the leading book promoting atheism by a prominent skeptic was Richard Dawkins’ The God Delusion (2006). The retired Oxford professor doesn’t believe the Bible is the Word of God because he doesn’t believe there is a God. But he nevertheless says you are culturally illiterate if you don’t know the Bible.

Dawkins writes, “The King James Bible of 1611---the Authorized Version---includes passages of outstanding literary merit in its own right, for example the Song of Songs, and the sublime Ecclesiastes (which I am told is pretty good in the original Hebrew too). But the main reason the English Bible needs to be part of our education is that is a major source book for literary culture.”

Dawkins goes on to cite scores and scores of phrases from the Bible, similar to the examples I listed above, that are common everyday idioms that come from the KJV.

This does not mean he in any way respects the Bible as holy writ. He wrote: “We can give up belief in God while not losing touch with a treasured heritage.” Obviously, I don’t agree with him. But I mention it to say that even atheists can appreciate the Bible as literature and even view it as “a treasured heritage.”

In the aforementioned television special on the impact of the KJV, Tim Goeglein of Focus on the Family commented, “I think it's fair to say that without the King James Version of the Bible, the Book of Common Prayer, the cadence, the language, the beauty, we would never really understand the creation of America and the political rhetoric and oratory and life of our great nation.”

The Bible as literature and the Bible as history should have a renewed place in our schools. Back when it was the chief textbook in one way or another, literacy was widespread.

As author and former Yale professor William Lyons Phelps observed: "Our civilization is founded upon the Bible. More of our ideas, our wisdom, our philosophy, our literature, our art, our ideals come from the Bible than from all other books combined."
