Trump Announces Forthcoming Initiative to Safeguard Prayer in Public Schools

During a Monday Religious Liberty Commission meeting at the Bible Museum, President Trump announced that the White House will be taking efforts to protect prayer in public schools.

“I am pleased to announce this morning that the Department of Education will soon issue new guidance protecting the right to prayer in our public schools, and it’s total protection,” Trump said.

Addressing his own views on religion and what he deems to be the effect of religion on nations, the president said: “To have a great nation, you have to have religion. I believe that so strongly. There has to be something after we go through all of this — and that something is God.”

“For most of our country’s history, the Bible was found in every classroom in the nation, yet in many schools today students are instead indoctrinated with anti-religious propaganda and some are punished for their religious beliefs. Very, very strongly punished,” Trump continued. “When faith gets weaker, our country seems to get weaker. When faith gets stronger, as it is right now, we’re having a very good period of time after some rough years, good things happen for our country. It’s amazing the way it seems to work that way.”

In the same vein, Trump later said that the US has “to bring back religion in America, bring it back stronger than ever before.

The Department of Education “will soon issue new guidance protecting the right to prayer in our public schools,” Trump announced.

A 1962 Supreme Court ruling in the case Engel v. Vitale found that state-sponsored prayer in public schools presents a violation of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. During the meeting, the president didn’t mention how a future policy of the DOE would coexist with the prior ruling.

Texas Governor Bans Sharia Law and Compounds

On Tuesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that he has banned Sharia Law and any encampments based on it from being established in Texas.

A video of an Islamic cleric in the Houston area speaking against the use of alcohol, gambling, and eating pork recently surfaced. The cleric announced he and his associates would visit “inner-city” communities and bring the same message. This was met with stern response by Abbott and perhaps the catalyst for his ban.

“I signed laws that BAN Sharia Law and Sharia Compounds in Texas,” Abbott stated. “No business and no individual should fear fools like this. If this person, or ANYONE, attempts to impose Sharia compliance, report it to local law enforcement or the Texas Dept. of Public Safety,” the governor further said.

Concerning a possible Sharia Law compound mentioned by Abbott, US Senator John Cornyn requested in May that the US DOJ investigate a Muslim community in the planning process called East Plano Islamic Center (Epic City). The senator was concerned with the exclusionary element of the proposed community, especially with regard to religious liberty.

“A master-planned ‘community of thousands of Muslims’ could violate the constitutional rights of Jewish and Christian Texans, by preventing them from living in this new community and discriminating against them within the community,” Cornyn wrote. “I further encourage the Department to investigate whether Christians, Jews, and other non-Muslim minorities would receive equal protection under the law in this new community. Religious discrimination, whether explicit or implicit, is unconstitutional under the First and Fourteenth Amendments. Religious freedom is a cornerstone of our nation’s values, and I am concerned this community potentially undermines this vital protection.”

EPIC City’s website outlines its mission, which doesn’t mention Sharia Law. The community is funded by Community Capital Partner (CCP), described as “a for profit entity created by EPIC to manage the EPIC City Project. CCP board members are volunteers assigned to manage the EPIC City Project. EPIC is the only beneficiary of profits from the project.”

However, the US DOJ, according to Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, closed the investigation of EPIC City in June, finding that “CCP has affirmed that all will be welcome in any future development, and [will] revise and develop marketing materials to reinforce that message consistent with… obligations under the Fair Housing Act.”

Sabrina Carpenter’s VMA Performance Criticized for Displaying Pro-Trans Themes

During the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Sunday, multi-platinum pop singer Sabrina Carpenter gave a performance of a song from her latest album “Man’s Best Friend” that has drawn controversy due to its explicit pro-transgender messaging.

Carpenter performed her song “Tears” while surrounded by several drag queens and male dancers. The performance’s stage design and choreography were inspired by the 1975 cult-classic film “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” a movie which also contains transgender themes and characters.

During the performance, dancers held signage conveying various messages in support of transgenderism, while the singer made entrance onto the stage through a “manhole” cover, which was, perhaps, an allusion to the title of her new album “Man’s Best Friend.”

Specifically, the signs depicted the following slogans: “Dolls dolls dolls,” “protect trans rights,” “for the theys and the gays,’ “In trans we trust,” “we are everywhere,” as well as an admonition of, “If you hate you’ll never get laid.”

Though Carpenter did not make any explicit statements during or immediately after her performance about promoting the rights of trans-identifying people, she did so in her acceptance speech for winning the VMA award of Best Album for “Man’s Best Friend.” She also praised her fellow performers, and urged the audience to be less negative and discriminatory.

“I’m just the luckiest girl in the world,” Carpenter told the audience, according to The Daily Wire. “And I do want to say to my incredible cast and dancers and my queens on stage with me tonight: This world, as we all know, can be so full of criticism and discrimination and negativity, so to get to be part of something–so often more than not–that is something that can bring you light, make you smile, make you dance, and make you feel like the world is your… oyster, I’m so grateful to do that.”

Judicial Coup: Judge Blocks Trump's Effort to Remove Fed Governor

In August, Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook was fired by President Trump over allegations that she committed mortgage fraud. Was she removed outright? No. Not yet. Ms. Cook decided to sue to block her termination from the board of governors, which became another front in the judicial coup against the president. A federal judge just blocked Trump’s efforts to remove this woman, who even CNN’s top legal analyst couldn’t really defend her arguments for why there are so many discrepancies in her mortgage filing (via Politico):

President Donald Trump’s bid to fire Lisa Cook, a member of the Federal Reserve board, is likely illegal and she must be immediately reinstated, a federal judge ruled Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb concluded that Trump’s effort to fire Cook over allegations of mortgage fraud that predated her time on the Fed board violated a federal law meant to insulate the interest-rate-setting body from political pressure. Only Cook’s conduct on the job could be grounds for removal, Cobb ruled.

The decision triggers a high-stakes appeals court battle that is likely to quickly land at the Supreme Court. The justices have repeatedly endorsed Trump’s efforts to fire powerful federal regulators and policymakers, but the justices have also signaled they view the Fed as a unique, “quasi-private” institution that may be entitled to more independence than other agencies housed within the executive branch.

The president of the United States can remove Federal Reserve governors for cause. This judge said she wasn’t convinced. Really? Cook’s reasons did not convince CNN’s Elie Honig, and even The Washington Post was not impressed.
