A few days in danbury, Wisconsin

When I drove here, I drank 7up. I was looking at Youtube and Snapchat. I walked down to the lake 26 and I saw a family there, some girls in bikini so I kept my distance. I went down to the dock with Lindsey (dog). I saw a UTV parked in the middle of the parking lot in the park. After I took pictures of the park, I walked on a bike trail across the street. It was a grassy place with fallen birch snags in the middle of the trail so I went back toward the road. I see a lot of UTVs around Danbury, Wisconsin driving on the road. On the way back, I saw a husky, who was trying to be dominant. After a brief sniff, I was on my way to the camper. I had hot dogs later that day. On the radio, there was Gretchen Wilson- Redneck Woman playing on the radio. I thought there was a lot of rednecks in danbury with their UTVs, log cabins, pickups, country music.

The next day, I drove to Siren Antiques. The antique store had lots of worn out stuff dating around 2007 or earlier. It’s strange that 2007 is somehow antique, but I think they charge outrageous prices…. double the thrift store next door. I saw old hunting books from 1991. I saw some girls mystery books from 1995. Then I saw some brooks and dunn and alan Jackson greatest hits and Elvis cds at $4. The old PS2 sports video games were already $25, outrageous for old sports games that cost $5 a decade ago. Then we had a burger and pizza at Wild Waters Bar near the St. Croix Casino danbury. Dad told me if I mingle with the locals in the bar, I would get punched. There was a live rock band.

Next day, I got ice cream at Dairy Queen in Siren, Wisconsin. Mom looked at the refrigerator for ice cream products. We bought ice cream cones. I bought strawberry. Dad bought hot fudge. Mom bought chocolate. We sat on the bench at first until a table was open.

SCOTUS Uses Nancy Pelosi's Words Against Her In Decision to Strike Down Biden’s student loan plan

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif) past comments came back to haunt her after the Supreme Court struck down President Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness plan on Friday— handing conservatives a win.

In the 6-3 ruling that wiped away Biden's $400 billion student debt plan, Chief Justice John Roberts cited a speech that Pelosi gave at a press conference in July 2021 in his opinion.

"As then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi explained: 'People think that the President of the United States has the power for debt forgiveness. He does not. He can postpone. He can delay. But he does not have that power. That has to be an act of Congress,'" Roberts wrote.

During her speech, Pelosi mentioned a scenario where "your child just decided they want to – at this time, not want to go to college, but you're paying taxes to forgive somebody else's obligations."

The Democrat claimed voters would not be happy about Biden's plan to forgive student loans, making it appear to question whether such policy would be "fair."

The Supreme Court has been mulling the President's heavenly-funded plan for months as six Republican-led states sued the Biden Administration, claiming he overstepped his legal authority.

Biden announced his plan last year, estimating it would wipe the debt of at least 20 million Americans, providing relief to the remaining 20 million. The program's objective of eliminating up to $10,000 in federal student loan debt for borrowers making less than $125,000 and up to $20,000 for Pell Grant recipients was struck down, dealing a major blow to Democrats.

Student loan payments were paused multiple times over the past several years. However, after a three-year hiatus, interest will start accruing on Sept. 1, with payments beginning to be due in October.

Who Is Really President? It’s Barack Obama

Yes, Joe Biden is the 46th President of the United States and enjoys all the benefits of the office, including travel on Air Force One and Secret Service protection. He assumed the office after a controversial and contested election employing a “basement” campaign strategy with few events and media interviews.

Since his inauguration, his mental and physical condition has seriously deteriorated. With his declining health, it is inconceivable that Joe Biden can serve as President until he is 86 years old. However, when asked about his age and the concerns of Americans, Biden usually says “watch me.”

Yes, we are watching and that is why millions of Americans are horrified about a physically weakened and mentally incompetent President continuing in the most important office in the world.

As noted by former White House Physician and U.S. Representative Ronny Jackson (R-TX), Biden is “not fit mentally or physically to be our President, and it’s a bad situation for us.” As Jackson explained, “his physical decline is now starting to highlight the cognitive decline that we’ve been watching for so long now…It’s a package that just doesn’t sell around the world, and it’s becoming a national security issue for us.”

Jackson is not alone; all Americans can clearly see there is something wrong with Biden. A recent NBC News poll showed that an astounding 68% of all voters “have concerns about Biden having the necessary mental and physical health” to serve as President of the United States. Among all poll respondents, 55% attest that their concerns about Biden’s condition are “major.”

The evidence of his problems is plain for every American to see. Biden often seems lost after finishing speeches and needs help exiting the stage. In a recent MSNBC interview, he bizarrely walked away before the host could end the segment.

He recently suffered a major fall on stage at the Air Force Academy commencement ceremonies. Americans have also seen him fall off his bike and trip while walking up the stairs of Air Force One. This may be why he recently started using a less intimidating set of stairs to exit the aircraft.

His speaking gaffes are too numerous to mention. He commits errors in practically every interview and speech he delivers. In the last week, he confused Iraq for Ukraine several times.

His stories about his background and family life are so preposterous that Americans know he is lying. Whether Biden believes these whoppers or not is a legitimate question since he has a long history of telling outright lies and committing plagiarism.

However, occasionally, the truth will emerge, and Biden will make a curious comment. For example, he will claim that he cannot answer questions or mention something because he is worried about being scolded by a mysterious individual or group.

At a recent speech to the League of Conservation Voters, Biden talked about building a “railroad from the Pacific all the way across the Indian Ocean” Of course, this was another misstatement for it referred to building a railroad across the continent of Africa. Biden concluded his remarks by claiming, “I could go on, but I’m not. I’m going off script. I’m going to get in trouble.”

No wonder Biden’s staff does not want him going “off script.” When he does, the results can be ugly. Outside the White House while briefing talking with reporters, before leaving on Marine One, Biden screamed “No” when asked about his involvement in his son’s shady business deals.

This is why Biden conducts few press conferences and when he does submit to questions, he calls on a list of pre-approved reporters his staff has prepared.

Biden is tightly controlled by his staff who exert powerful control over his presidency. He seems to be in constant fear of getting “in trouble” with “his staff.”

Isn’t Joe Biden the President of the United States? If so, why is he worried about getting “in trouble?” Who has this kind of influence over the most powerful person in the world?

As Tucker Carlson stated in a 2022 Sky News Australia interview, Biden is “merely a proxy for the people…running the U.S. government. The faceless diabolical figures that are driving us into the abyss … they’ve benefited greatly from having a senile president.”

Who are the “diabolical figures” who control Joe Biden? One of the most influential is the First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden. She is the one who initially vouched for his health as a 2020 presidential candidate. She is the one who continually whispers in his ear what to say and guides him off stage and through crowds at events. She must be giving him some type of care when the cameras are off. Without her approval, Biden would be dismissed as unfit for the presidency, so her role is huge.

On the political side, one figure looms large, Biden’s former boss, Barack Obama. On Tuesday, Obama and Biden had lunch at the White House. At a fundraiser in New York, Biden joked that when he hears Hail to the Chief, he looks around for Obama. At the same event, he admitted that Obama had been “helping out a lot.”

Obama had his key aide, Susan Rice, ensconced in a key White House position for the first two years of the Biden presidency. As he attempts to run for re-election, Biden will be relying even more on Obama.

Unlike Biden, Obama is still physically and mentally active. He is still incredibly involved in political issues and wants to see the far-left agenda implemented. He knows that if Donald Trump is elected again as President, his legacy will be further destroyed.

In a December 2020 CBS interview, Obama revealed his preference for a “third term” in which he would be in control in his “basement,” but his lackey would wear an “earpiece” and “deliver the lines” written by Obama.

Unfortunately for Obama, Biden cannot “deliver the lines” very well, but he sure can follow orders.

The Left’s Culture of Death I: Age is Irrelevant

“In Yanxing [China] county, a wealthy region in Yunnan [province] covered in salt flats, over a hundred middle-school students were arrested and tortured in April 1951 after an anonymous denunciation reached the local [communist] party headquarters.  Wu Liening, ten years old, was hung from a beam and beaten.  Ma Silie, aged eight, was tied up on a cross in a kneeling position.  A wooden pole was placed across his thighs and pressed down by two of his tormentors, crushing his legs and knees on the concrete floor.  Even Liu Wendi, aged six, was accused of being the head of a spying squad.  Two of the children were tortured to death. This was not an isolated example.  A team of militia in Sichuan [province] also tried to uncover counter-revolutionaries among schoolchildren.  Some had both hands and feet tied up while being suspended upside down; others were made to go through mock executions.  Three were tortured to death, and another five of the children committed suicide.  About fifty of the victims survived the abuse, although many were crippled or maimed for life.” (Frank Dikötter, The Tragedy of Liberation, Chapter 5, “The Great Terror”)

Welcome to the Left’s Wonderful Culture of Death.

If you want to know about Leftism, communism, and socialism, if you want to know what they did in China, if you want to know what American Leftists will do if they ever get control of the United States and feel their hold is being threatened; if you really want to know about these people, then I urge you to read historian Frank Dikötter’s trilogy on Mao Zedong:  The Tragedy of Liberation, Mao’s Great Famine, and The Cultural Revolution.  They cover the years from when Mao gained power in 1949 until his death in 1976.  The stories are absolutely horrifying, as evidenced by the quote at the beginning of this column.  The shocking thing is, Dikötter, in his research, had access to relatively few of the archives in communist China and can only give us a small sample of what really must have happened.

As a historian, I have been trying, repeatedly, desperately, to warn Townhall (and other) readers about the horrors of Leftist philosophy as practiced in the 20th century (read also about Lenin, Stalin, Pol Pot, and others, as well as Dikötter’s books, to get a fuller picture.)  These people are atheists; they have no moral foundation other than what they think the world should be like, and given power, they always try to create the Utopia that exists in their warped, godless minds.  And anyone who opposes them—because these Leftists have no God-given respect for human life—needs to be wiped out for the “betterment” of mankind.  The Left is trying to give us an earthly utopia; since there is no God, there is no heaven after this life, so this existence is the only one we will ever know.  We must make it as perfect as possible.

And only the Left knows how to do that.  And, again, anyone who opposes them is opposing the great, earthly Shangri-la and needs to be silenced.  That often involves killing millions of innocent humans.  Well, they are all going to die someday anyway, Stalin said.

When Mao Zedong took over China, he began to implement his “socialist” economic scheme immediately.  That meant “land reform,” which meant taking land away from “rich landlords” and distributing it to the “poor.”  Well, the definition of “rich” was loosely applied to basically mean anybody who owned anything.  (Mao was following his mentor Stalin here, who had done the same thing in the USSR in the 1930s.)  There was significant hostility to Mao’s communist scheme, especially in the countryside but also in the cities.  His economic plan became a miserable disaster everywhere.  Let Dikötter explain the dictator’s predicament:

“By the summer of 1950, the communists had few friends left.  The party, Mao explained to his colleagues, was ‘hitting out in all directions,’ making nothing but enemies.  Capitalists disliked the communist party, the jobless were restless, and most workers were disgruntled thanks to the economic slump.  In the countryside, villagers were taxed to the hilt, while in the cities, intellectuals feared losing their jobs.  Those working in the arts resented political interference.  Opposition to the new regime was rife in religious circles.  ‘The entire country is tense,’ Mao noted, and ‘we are rather lonely.’”

As Dikötter also says, “Paranoia was intrinsic to the regime, which lived in fear of its own shadow.”  Stalin ran into the same problem.  People resist compulsory Leftism—reference Bud Light.  So, paranoia is a common phenomenon in Leftist circles because they know what they are going to do will not be popular with the masses, and they are afraid the people will rebel.  And, of course, that is exactly what happens.  Leftism can never win by debate; it can only win by force.  We are seeing that in America today.

So, what was Mao’s choice?  What could he do?  The solution was simple:  start killing people (terror).  Dikötter again:  “For a full year [1951], a Great Terror would run alongside land reform, shaking the country to its very roots and forcing people from all walks of life to take sides.”

As noted in the first quote in this column, even six-year-old children didn’t escape the communists’ torment.  Well, they aren’t escaping it in America now, either, as countless children are being mutilated on a Leftist altar of sexual degradation and perversity.  How far do you think it is from mutilation to murder?  Mao’s China shows us:  not far.

A Leftist is a Leftist is a Leftist—in China, the USSR, Cuba—or America.  If we think they won’t do, in America, what they did (are doing) in China and elsewhere, then we are in for a rude shock if they ever get the power they crave.

And Soon They Will Control Everything

Digital technology, from cryptocurrency to artificial intelligence, promises to transform every aspect of our lives. Will that transformation promote liberty or tyranny? Those who seek centralized government control, from President Biden to President Xi Jinping, intend to exploit digital technology to divest Americans of freedom in favor of government planning. The survival of individual liberty is very much at stake. Legal barriers against domestic and global governmental interference with the digital marketplace are urgently needed. Consistent with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, the emerging digital marketplace must be free, private, and protected against government political influence and control. The bellwether of economic liberty, free enterprise, must reign in the digital world as it has in the analog world.

The Founding Fathers understood the Constitution’s very purpose to be protection of individual liberty whether in the realm of economics or politics (“That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men . . .” Declaration of Independence, para. 2). President Roosevelt’s First and Second New Deals reneged on that core constitutional purpose by ordering government to devour private ownership and control to serve political ends. The Supreme Court ultimately acquiesced in that assumption of government power beyond constitutional limits in a line of cases from Nebbia v. New York in 1934 to U.S. v. Carolene Products in 1938. The Court reduced defense of economic liberty to a mere rational basis review, inviting usurpation of private property rights by state and federal governments. From 1938 forward, economic liberty has had virtually no protection from government in direct opposition to the Framers’ intent. Since then, the government has only been required to show that it has some cogent rationale, some “rational basis” (that its means are rationally related to a legitimate government interest, real or imaginary) for its economic regulation to be upheld as constitutional, regardless of the extent to which its actions ravage private property. That fundamental departure from the Framers’ intent is now a major Achilles heel that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the international organizations the CCP influences, and the Biden administration are exploiting in their rush to achieve a global digital ID and a centralized digital banking currency.

On March 20, 2023, President Biden vetoed a bill that would have overturned a U.S. Department of Labor rule allowing private retirement fund investment managers to take into account Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors (such as a company’s carbon footprint, the racial or gender composition of its board of directors, or its commitment to the Administration’s climate change agenda) in making investment decisions. President Biden has issued several executive orders compelling federal departments and agencies to implement ESG agendas. Among those now implementing ESG are the Departments of Labor, Transportation, and Treasury (through the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency), the SEC, the EPA, and OSHA. Asset management firm BlackRock and numerous other leading domestically headquartered firms are presently implementing ESG over an estimated $8.4 trillion in assets.

The ESG concept grew out of musings by United Nations staffers, which then caught the attention of UN leadership, foremost among them Paul Clements-Hunt, the former head of UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative, who helped popularize the idea of redirecting private investment away from what would yield maximum profit (capitalism) to what was politically preferred by governments and governmental proxies (socialism). Deny access to capital for all but far left causes and, voila, capitalism gives way to socialism overnight.

The Biden administration is cooperating enthusiastically with international organizations that are under the heavy influence of Communist China in the effort to make digital IDs a global phenomenon by 2025 and to usurp private digital currencies with central bank digital currencies (CBDC). Through these means, it will be possible for governments and their proxy organizations to compel individuals to follow politically preferred directions (totalitarianism) depriving them of individual sovereignty and free choice in virtually every area of life, among them healthcare (requiring vaccination and dictating medical treatment options); lending and investment (mandating ESG scores); and purchasing decisions (denying purchase for those with certain ESG scores).

Xi Jinping ordered the CCP to take “an active part in leading the reform of the global governance system.” China has therefore insinuated itself into global governance of all leading international quasi-governmental organizations, like the UN, WHO, IMF, BIS, and the FATF, doing so through a combination of strategic investments in these entities and exercise of influence, first over key CCP-sympathetic proxies and now increasingly through direct involvement of Chinese nationals and CCP members. All treaty-based international organizations that wield power over member states are increasingly dominated by a Who’s Who of Chinese communists. As early as 2020, the writing was on the wall, with Kristine Lee of Politico reporting that Qu Dongyu, former Chinese Vice Minister of Agriculture, had become the head of the UN Food and Agricultural Agency; Zhao Houlin of China’s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications had become the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union; Liu Zhenmin, China’s former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, had become a leader in the U.N. Department of Economics and Social Affairs; and Chinese national Fang Liu had become a leader in the UN International Civil Aviation Organization. Lee summarized the impact of President Xi’s efforts: “Beijing has moved expeditiously to impose its illiberal values on international organizations. Through a combination of deft coalition-building, strategically timed financial contributions and narrative-shaping efforts, Beijing has made progress in transforming the U.N. into a platform for its foreign policy agenda . . .” And it is not only the UN but also virtually every treaty-based international organization.

With no effective counterpoise from the Biden administration and, to the contrary, with that administration’s various tacit or overt complicity, China’s quest to deprive citizens, including those of the United States, of individual liberty and sovereignty, proceeds apace through regulation of digitization (e.g., global digital IDs and central bank digital currencies). A “Brave New World,” to draw from Aldous Huxley, a world of tyranny, not of liberty, threatens those who yearn to be free.

Since the first decade of this century, the UN has been working feverishly on plans for international control over digital IDs and currencies as means to alter human behavior in favor of directions chosen by government and quasi-government actors (most notably the CCP). The UN is demanding that member states adopt digital IDs for all citizens by 2025. As a proxy for Communist China, the UN and other international bodies will be able to obliterate any reserve of privacy and free choice left for individuals in member states, like the United States, via national digital IDs. Digital IDs will include in one account information now kept separately, such as from driver’s licenses, medical records, and passports. Moreover, because Digital IDs will likely be required ubiquitously and, even if not ubiquitous, may be combined in digital profiles with information obtained from digital wallets regulated by Central Bank Digital Currencies that track every purchase, a person’s health, economic, and political profile will be instantly accessible by governments and enable state and government-coerced private action restrictive of individual liberty.

It is not difficult to perceive the consequences of the extreme government control enabled by digital IDs and CBDCs. Want to ride on public transit? No, your Digital ID does not record a COVID vaccine. Want a home equity or car loan? No, you lack a preferred ESG score. Want to attend a concert at a public venue? No, your CBDC information suggests you harbor a viewpoint deemed “offensive.”

To ensure protection for individual liberty and privacy against totalitarian government and China-influenced international organization control, the United States should withdraw from international organizations that pursue global governance in place of our constitutionally protected rights and sovereignty and prohibit use of government digital IDs and CBDCs domestically. Instead, the United States should protect the growth and development of private digital currencies and prohibit use of ESG scoring as a basis for any government action or regulated entity lending, sale, or purchasing decision.
