The Battle Over Critical Race Theory Just Got A Lot More Relevant in Virginia

Virginia Democrats on Tuesday killed a bill which would have curbed the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in public schools. The issue has been particularly heating up in Fairfax and Loudon, counties in Northern Virginia. 

Andrew Romeo, the communications director for Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) commented on this move from Virginia Democrats, which includes those who may be vulnerable. 

"House Republicans in Virginia are fighting to keep politics out of the classroom and for children to be taught to judge others by the content of their character. House Democrats? They continue to take their cues from the teachers’ unions funding their campaigns and refuse to stand up to the far-left’s efforts to indoctrinate the commonwealth’s students. Virginia families will be horrified to learn that the extreme liberals running Richmond yesterday opposed an effort to stop the politicization of public school curriculum in the commonwealth once and for all and will punish them in November," he said in a statement.

One of those vulnerable Democrats is Del. Joshua Cole, of the 28th district. As RSLC exposed, Cole shared a clip of statements from Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

Last month, Weingarten slammed critics of CRT and vowed to engage in fighting legal battles to defend teachers who incorporate the teachings. The union has funds set aside for such legal battles.

In June, The Federalist reported on a survey of 400 respondents from Public Opinion Strategies, paid for by FightForSchools.com and N2America. It specifically addresses Fairfax and Loudon:

Data shows 50 percent of the 400 respondents have an unfavorable view of critical race theory, while only 42 percent have a favorable one. The divide was even greater among a few demographics. 79 percent of women 55 and older affirmed the negative view, as did 81 percent of Independent voters 55 and older and 59 percent of public-school parents.

Half of voters indicated they oppose critical race theory being taught in public schools, with 86 percent of Republicans, 57 percent of Independents, and nearly one-quarter of Democrats concurring.

By a ratio of more than two-to-one, respondents replied they would be “much less likely” to vote for an official who backs the doctrine. Only 16 percent of those polled said they would be “much more likely” to both vote for someone supporting critical race theory and seek it to be taught in public schools.

The issue is also heating up in the closely watched Virginia statewide races.

While Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin has been addressing the issue since even before he became the nominee, the Democratic candidate, Terry McAuliffe has dismissed it as "another right-wing conspiracy" and "totally made up by Donald Trump and Glenn Youngkin." McAuliffe had been asked by a woman, who pointed out that "it's all of the conversation with the news in Virginia." She also McAuliffe asked "what are you going top say to all of those people?"

Youngkin has vowed to outlaw CRT on "day one," should he be elected. 

The Republican also addressed the issue during a Thursday interview with Todd Piro's "Fox & Friend First." Piro referred to Virginia as "ground zero" on this issue. 

"Critical Race Theory has moved into our school system, and we have to remove it. It's a political theory, it's not an academic curriculum," Youngkin pointed out. 

During the interview, which played an audio clip of the above conversation, Piro asked Youngkin if he indeed "create[d] CRT as a way to win this election." In response, Youngkin said "it's pretty laughable" and warned that "we've watched faculty being taught how to in fact use Critical Race Theory as a basis for teaching." 

When it comes to McAuliffe's comments, Youngkin pointed out how "it's something my opponent once again doesn't understand."

The vote didn't come as a surprise statement for Del. Jason Miyares, of the 82nd district. "I’m disappointed but not surprised that the bill to curb Critical Race Theory was voted down by the left-liberal monopoly in Richmond. Rather than unite us, CRT is an extreme, left-wing perspective that teaches children to learn to hate their country. The academic left is attempting to push this extreme radical worldview on Virginia's youth and unfortunately Richmond liberal politicians had a golden opportunity to stand up to the most extreme members of their own party and choose to remain silent," he said in a statement for Townhall.

Miyares is the Republican nominee for attorney general, and connected the issue to that race as well. "As the son of an immigrant, I could not be more grateful for the freedoms and opportunities this nation and state have provided the Miyares Family.  Critical Race Theory aims to instill the very opposite emotion into our youngest generation and in order to stop it, it is vital to have a check and balance on the radical left in the Attorney General’s office," he continued.

In the Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) system local leader Michelle Leete last month at a rally declared "Let them die!" about opponents of CRT. She was forced to resign from her positions with Virginia PTA and Fairfax PTA, though she remains vice president of the local NAACP. 

In June, there was an arrest at a Loudon County school board meeting after school board members left mid-meeting and it was declared by police an unlawful assembly.

 

Senate Democrats Kill Proposal to Provide Americans with Inflation Transparency

 Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) has been hard at work educating his constituents about the risks of government spending and inflation, and encouraging his fellow senators to do the same. On Wednesday night, however, Democrats defeated his proposal for a rules change which requires bills passed by Senate committees to include inflationary impact statements for the sake of transparency.

In sharing concerns his constituents have with inflation, the senator also reminded his colleagues that "inflation is a tax, a tax that hurts our families on low and fixed incomes the most."

Scott likened raising the debt ceiling to raising the limit on your credit card each month, with no plan to pay it off. "It's irresponsible and it's no way to operate," the senator said. "You would never run your business or family the way Washington runs. It's wasteful and dysfunctional."

"Too many in Washington believe the lie that inflation is impossible, debt doesn't matter, and spending has no consequences," which is why, Scott said, his rule change is so necessary.

Scott's request for unanimous consent was objected to by Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) on account of how it would be "too much work" for the Senate.

Inflation concerns will almost certainly come to affect Democrats in the 2022 midterms. On Monday, RealClearPolitics published Susan Crabtree's "Dems Brace for Inflation Attacks During August Recess."

As a July 28 press release from Scott's office shared that Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) had introduced a companion bill in the House.

Rep. Banks is also the chair of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), which frequently raises awareness about inflation, including through their own proposed budget.

Sen. Scott and the RSC have come out heavily against the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, which, although supposedly bipartisan, includes many liberal proposals.

Over the 4th of July weekend the White House was mocked for a tweet celebrating the claim that Americans saved 16 cents on popular cookout items this year, even though, as Spencer highlighted, it looked to be the most expensive Independence Day in years thanks to inflation.

August update

For the last two years, I was relaxing watching DirecTV (TCM, MGM, HDNET) or youtube, working on movie lists or music lists, adding followers on Instagram, youtube, tiktok and Facebook.  I watch Crazy Lamp Lady, Real Nifty Vintage, I Allegedly, Jeremiah Babe, Epic Economist, and Money GPS channels on youtube. Sometimes I watch Columbo and Matlock on Hallmark Channel. My dad was ill and is in the middle of serious medication. I was watching some One Piece up to episode 576, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Mobile Suit Gundam this month. I played Super Mario 3D World, Monster Hunter, Legend of Zelda – Skyward Sword. Yesterday, I bought some 90s Paradise Lost or 2010s Insolium cds. The national news is grouse. I never voted for Joe Biden.

I was talking to my baby boomer friend whose a nurse. She told me that social networks are not important. Her baby boomer friend who shops for others is not collecting for herself anymore. Another retired nurse shopped for herself buying figuring, Longaberger baskets. She goes to restaurants with her Catholic friends. Lois attends a Catholic church weekly.

I only talked to Randy in June 2021 talked about the economy, new president, and his furloughing at YMCA. He said the bars were still full after that stabbing incident downtown in Hudson, Wisconsin. Nobody was wearing masks in the bars. Bar and grills aren’t the best place to make friends or spend time. Sometimes I ask people how to make life decisions and why they make choices on events or material stuff.

I talked to my cousin Penny over the phone, and she’s giving me free rock CDs from ACDC, Rush, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley which she was getting rid of. Penny wants to come over in October for a halloween party and visit me. Twice a year!

I only have 6 people to talk to on Snapchat and 6 people on my cell phone. Instagram followers don’t reply much. It wasn’t  my fault, I was making my instagram account fun and aimless. It’s about anime, old or new videogames, movies, music and any vacations. I bought all the rare anime DVDs and Blurays before they went out of print. I did this with trance / house / downtempo cds. I listen to and watch them. I also have rap and hiphop albums.

I had a conservative blog and Facebook for 10 years and employers didn't keep me. It was all live 24/7 for 10+ years. I reached more hitcounter then my high school classmates except Brock Lewis who is Saw Hub on Tiktok (Saw Daddy)..a couple million hitcounter on Tiktok about chain saws.  Life is always unfair.  I didn't join the town's Lions Club, because it was atheist.

The administration is literally out of gas.

None of their monetary policy (print it out of thing air by the bucket loads) has worked. People noticed.

None of their immigration policy (tell everyone to come, travel to neighboring nations & give US tax dollars away, beg & plead for their help) has worked. People noticed.

None of their anti-crime policy (threaten lawful gun owners with confiscation) has worked. People noticed.

None of their foreign policy (embolden Iran, play footsie with China, ask the UN to investigate Americans, take the side of the Cuban regime, undermine the Abraham accords) has worked. People noticed.

“So what will work,” Joe Biden ponders over his daily lime jello from his lunch tray?

“Say, when the campaign was going and blue state governors were bossing people around, and we choked off business, and forced everyone to stay home, we got elected,” he flashes back.

Well Mr. *President, this is 2021, and we know far too much to just go along with it like we were fear-porned into doing in 2020.

Never the less social media influencer Jack Posobiec reported this week.

“White House chatter is that lockdowns for delta variant all but a done deal. Virtually all blue states are cooperating with WH / CDC. They’re aiming for late 2nd week of August, per WH official”

Claiming that Delta is as contagious as Chicken Pox, Measles, and the like, the White House is banking on the media backing them, and the runway to take control.

The only problem being even some of the normal lockstep media aren’t playing their role.

The New York Times’ David Leonhardt went off message in the grey lady this week. 

He detailed some of the “mysteries” of CoVid19 and how specifically the Delta variant is turning out to not be the challenge the White House is wanting everyone to think it is.

The administration and their puppets at the CDC based their reversal of guidance this week upon a single study out of India. After all India was the place where Delta seemed to rage for a couple of months. And it is evidently (and I say “evidently” loosely because the CDC refuses to show us the data) the cause of a scary 83% of new CoVid infections in the US currently.

The only problem being that not only did the study from India get so panned by medical journals that they refused to publish it, but as Leonhardt points out in the Times, Delta rates are now plunging in India and Britain. He also notes that “experts” feared an intense regional breakout in Michigan that would sweep through the Midwest but ended up petering out.

The administration then points to the regularly faulty “new infection” numbers as proof that action must be taken. And the lapdog media is glad to oblige.

Last night on the 11:30p local NBC news in New York City, scary stories had large block font numbers showing for New York and New Jersey infections ran as high this week as they have since “M-ay.” The anchor even said the month’s name in dramatic fashion.

Yet as Dr. Nicole Saphier has said repeatedly on my show in New York, “infection rates are not the key indicator.” That would belong to hospitalizations and deaths.

As Dr. Martin Makary told my show this week, there are “roughly two hospitals” in the entire nation that are serving a slight uptick in CoVid beds and activity.

And while the mayor of Washington DC is playing along with Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s facade in the nation’s capital that the beltway is breaking out into crisis. DC only recorded one death where CoVid was present in the final two weeks of July, while eleven homicides occurred over that same period.

And circling back to those scary numbers about how current numbers compare to “May.”

The CDC removed the mask guidance on May 14, 2021. The rolling seven day average of deaths at the time is reported to have been 549 per day where CoVid was present. This past Wednesday, with all these scary infection numbers spiking—but not hospitalizations, the rolling seven day average was 296.

As Dr. Marc Siegel told my audience, there has been a spike in CoVid infections—almost exclusively amongst the unvaccinated. Dr. Makary clarified that saying that more precisely it’s occurring amongst the “non-immune.” He also expressed frustration that the CDC refuses to show the data on post-infection antibody positive persons. Long time health care authority former New York Lt. Governor Betsy McCaughey added that as with all other CoVid variants children are no more at risk of catching or transmitting Delta than any of the previous versions.

Never the less the White House is out of gas.

They have no plan to solve any of the major crises we’re facing, much less those their own policies have caused to worsen.

So what can they do?

Deny science, claim authority and fear-porn you into another locked down, masked up, existence of misery.

This time, we know more—a lot more, and we should not comply!

The Humiliation of the Church and the Coming National Revival

It has been a very difficult season for conservative Christians in America. There have been countless scandals, both minor and major, sexual and financial, rocking all different sectors of the church. There have been prominent leaders who have renounced their faith. There have been well-publicized, failed prophecies about Trump’s reelection. The list goes on and on, and we have egg on our face. Lots of it. 

And what about the extreme politicization of so many Christians in the last 5 years, to the point that some of us became better known for our support of a political leader than for our allegiance to Jesus?

This is a time of humiliation, of confusion, of dishonor, a time to get low before the Lord rather than a time to strut.

Worst of all, we have brought reproach to the name of Jesus and disrepute to the reputation of the gospel. We have driven people away from the Lord more than drawn people to Him.

Yet all is not lost. To the contrary, the humbling of the church is actually a good sign. As believers, we are being purified by God’s refining fire (see Malachi 3:1-5). As the Body of Christ, we are being disciplined and judged (not condemned) by the Lord (see Hebrews 12:3-13; 1 Peter 4:17-18).

We are being pruned – a painful yet necessary process – so that we can bring forth more and better fruit (see John 15:1-2). 

We are being humbled so that we can be lifted up (see 1 Peter 5:6; James 4:6). 

In fact, the lower we will go – confessing our sins, acknowledging our faults, turning away from the bad and turning to the good – the higher the Lord will lift us, meaning, the higher we will go in receiving God’s grace and mercy.

Of course, it would have been better if we did not need to be refined. Or pruned. Or rebuked. Or corrected. Or humbled.

But that is not the case. Instead, for many years now, rather than the church changing the world, the world has changed the church. And rather than our light penetrating the darkness, the darkness has dimmed our light.

We have watered down our message to make it acceptable to the world, thereby robbing it of its convicting and transforming power.

We have lowered our standards so as not to offend, leaving us stuck in the miserable middle, half-worldly and half-Christian, worthy of mockery and derision from both the lost and the saved.

The sins of the world are the sins of the church, from porn to no-fault divorce, and from abortion to hate-filled social media posts. (Really now, aside from Scripture memes and gospel videos, are our social media pages much better than those of non-believers?)

Is it any wonder that so many young people today who have been raised in the church are not following in the faith of their parents? Is it any wonder that they are questioning the veracity of the Bible and the reality of God? And when we preach a non-experiential gospel, is it any surprise when they conclude that our message is one of words only? Can we fault them for never experiencing God’s power when we have not introduced them to that very real power, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead?

But, to repeat, this is not all bad news. 

Something is stirring across the nation. There is a fresh spiritual hunger. There is a rising, holy desperation. Many Christian leaders, who, just a few years ago were boasting about how healthy their churches and ministries were, are now on their faces, crying out for mercy, asking God for a fresh visitation. Many now recognize the urgent need for revival, resonating with the title of this forthcoming book: Revival Or We Die: A Great Awakening Is Our Only Hope.

The truth is that the Lord only fills the hungry, and it is to the degree of our hunger that we will be filled. How hungry are we? How thirsty? How desperate? How determined to see a radical, national awakening – or else? How much room is there in our lives, in our churches, in our ministries, for a great outpouring of the Spirit?

The humbling and pruning are painful. Very painful. And it is a terrible shame that we have so dishonored our Master and Savior.

Yet out of the pain God is building something great, and out of the humbling, something glorious will arise, something for which people cannot take credit. It will be something from above, not limited to one place or one ministry. It will be a truly national (and, likely, international) revival. Are we ready?

But the good news doesn’t stop there. 

America itself is ready. The nation is reeling, hardly knowing which way is up and which way is down. 

The chaos and upheaval of 2020 – from the day and night controversies surrounding Trump to COVID; and from the racial divisions, protests, and riots to the contested elections – have been replaced by the chaos and upheaval of 2021 – from the storming of the Capitol to the second wave of COVID; from financial turmoil to a seemingly unstable government.

People are at their wits end. They fear for their lives. They fear for the wellbeing of their children. They don’t know who to trust. They are lonely. They are hurting. And they are ready for the gospel.

And so, I urge every follower of Jesus: get low, seek God earnestly, receive correction where needed in your life, and then share the gospel and love your neighbor. The harvest is ripe for gathering.

And I urge every leader: go through the refining fire, let God purify your life and ministry, then pursue the Lord earnestly, determine to preach the gospel without compromise, and make room for the Holy Spirit.

Something big – very big, bigger than we have seen in our lifetimes – is at the door.

I ask again: are we ready?
